What are Recurring Dreams? A Dream Mini-Series: Part 2

ImageHave you ever had a dream that keeps coming back, no matter how hard you try to forget it? These are called recurring dreams and they can be quite unsettling. They often contain messages that are trying to teach us something about ourselves, but it can be hard to understand what they mean.

Recurring dreams can be triggered by a particular life situation, a transitional phase in life, or a problem that keeps coming up. They may happen daily, weekly, or monthly and the content of the dream may be very similar each time. These dreams may be highlighting a personal weakness, fear, or an inability to cope with something in your life, past or present.

The repetitive patterns in your dream can reveal valuable information about yourself. It may point to a conflict, situation, or matter in your waking life that remains unresolved or unsettled. Some urgent underlying message in your unconscious is demanding to be understood.

To overcome your recurring dreams, you need to be willing to accept some sort of change or undergo a transformation.

  • Look within yourself and confront whatever you may find, no matter how difficult it may be.
  • Try to look at the dream from an objective point of view and get past the emotional and reactive elements of the dream.
  • Write down each recurring dream in great detail and look for any subtle variations.
  • Pay attention to what is going on in your waking life when you have these recurring dreams, and be patient.
  • Learn to accept yourself truly and fully.

Recurring dreams are a common thing, but they can be frustrating and confusing. However, by paying attention to them and understanding their meaning, you can overcome them.
